The Belgian-Congolese director and musician Baloji takes us on a journey between hope and dystopia and questions our almost carnal relationship with our smartphones.

Luft strömt in Körper, Körper strömen ins Wasser, rollen durch Sand und springen durch die Luft. Aus der Luft betrachtet bewegt sich eine Gruppe von fünf Tänzer*innen im Rhythmus der Atmung. Ihre Körper verbinden sich und lösen sich in einer sinnlichen Hommage an den Ursprung der Existenz auf.

Salt Water explores the contrast between the force of natural events and our own need and desire for stability.connect and dissolve in a sensuous tribute to the origin of existence.

Eine menschliche Herde zieht durch wogende Felder, bis ein nicht erleuchteter Jäger ihren Weg kreuzt. Ortsspezifischer Tanzfilm oder audiovisuelle Meditation über Fibonacci-Zahlen in der Landschaft, im Herdenverhalten, in der Musik und in der Filmstruktur.

ENGLISH
A human flock flows through wavy fields until an unenlightened hunter crosses its path. Environmental dance film or audiovisual meditation on Fibonacci numbers patterned in the landscape, herd behaviour, film structure and music.

INSIDE/OUTSIDE zeigt eine Solotänzerin, die aufgrund der auferlegten Isolation Angst und eine Achterbahnfahrt der Gefühle erlebt: das Verlangen, draussen zu sein, gezwungen, nach innen zu gehen.

INSIDE/OUTSIDE features a solo dancer who experiences anxiety and a roller coaster of emotions due to the imposed isolation: craving to be outside, forced to go inside.

DEPARTURES erzählt die Geschichte von Giralda, einer Bestatterin, die verstorbene Menschen in ihr Leben nach dem Tod begleitet. Mit Flamenco interpretiert und an einem alten ostdeutschen Schiffskanalaufzug angesiedelt, schafft der Film eine assoziative Verschmelzung von Nord- und Südeuropa, Bewegung und Stille, Abschied und Ewigkeit.

ENGLISH
DEPARTURES tells the story of Giralda, an undertaker who accompanies deceased human beings into their afterlife. Interpreted with the means of Spanish flamenco and set at an old East German ship canal lift, the film creates an associative fusion between Northern and Southern Europe, movement and silence, farewell and eternity.

Eine Menschengruppe stemmt sich kraftvoll gegen den Strom des Flusses und gegen den Menschenstrom der Stadt, wird mitgerissen und angeschwemmt. Widerstand und Hingabe manifestieren sich im Laufe des Films als Urinstinkte, als Überlebensstrategien.

ENGLISH
A group of people struggles against the flow of the river and the mass of people in the city. They surrender to the current and are washed ashore. Resistance and devotion manifest as basic instincts, as a survival strategies.

Drei Charaktere werden in ein hektisches Wettrennen mitgerissen. Sie werden kämpfen, um zu gewinnen… aber aus welchem ​​Grund?  Was wäre, wenn das alles nur ein Köder wäre?  Nacherzählung der Fabel von Jiang Gong, einem bescheidenen Fischer und großen Strategen der chinesischen Zhou-Dynastie (10.-3. Eine wilde dreiminütige Fahrt voller hektischer Bewegungen und New Yorker Wahnsinn, bei der ein Mann, der sehr spät zur Arbeit kommt, auf einer Brücke im Verkehr stecken bleibt. Der Weg ist das Ziel – besonders für diesen Mann.

A wild three-minute ride of frantic movements and New York City-madness, in which a man who is very late for work, gets stuck on a bridge in traffic. A wild romp through the city ensues. It’s not the destination, it’s the journey – especially for this man.
