MASTERCLASS with MAJA ZIMMERLIN (CH/DE)

YOUR FOUNDATION FOR A DANCE FILM
12
April 2026 │ 10:00 – 17:00 │ Zürich

In this two-day workshop, you will gain a solid foundation for what it takes to successfully plan and realize a dance film. Together, we will explore questions such as:

What do I need to consider in advance?
• Where do I begin?
• Which next steps are right for my project?

Whether you already have an idea in mind, have created one or several dance films, or are currently in the middle of production — this workshop meets you exactly where you are. You will receive practical tools you can apply immediately, and you will leave with an overview, new ideas, and clarity about your next steps.

Award-winning dance filmmaker and dance film coach Maja Zimmerlin shares her knowledge in a tangible, inspiring, and practice-oriented way — empowering you to develop your dance film vision with confidence and joy.

MAJA ZIMMERLIN

BIO
Maja Zimmerlin is a Swiss choreographer and award-winning dance filmmaker working at the intersection of dance, film and contemporary circus. Her dance films have been and continue to be shown at international festivals and received several prizes, including the Award for Best Choreography at the internationally renowned festival InShadow in Lisbon, as well as awards in Athens, Rome and Berlin. Parallel to her artistic work, Maja has developed a strong practice as a mentor and coach for dance filmmakers, offering workshops, masterclasses and individual guidance that combine practical production know-how with a deep attention to artistic vision.

She is particularly interested in how movement, camera, and editing co-create meaning, atmosphere, and emotion — and in how artists can develop projects that are both aesthetically courageous, realistically producible, and aligned with their deeper artistic vision and life path.
