IN VIADI is a journey back to oneself – an intimate yet profound act of reconnection.

Sophie (they/them) moves through mountain scenery as fractured as their inner world. Marked by dualities – heritage and belonging, constraint and release – Sophie climbs the rugged terrain, each step a reckoning, each breath a quiet revolution. The mountains bear witness to the journey, the sculpture as guidance to Sophie’s inner peace. Five dancers echo the unrevealed conflicts, giving shape to what words cannot, their movement mirroring the unspoken tensions within.

Amidst the raw beauty of the Swiss Alps, from the shifting continental plates of the Tectonic Arena Sardona to the walk-in sculpture OGNA, IN VIADI unfolds a poetic exploration of authenticity.

More than a film, IN VIADI is an experience – an invocation, a visceral journey that invites the audience not just to watch, but to pause, listen and feel.

Geprägt von Dualitäten – Herkunft und Zugehörigkeit, Einschränkung und Befreiung – erklimmt Sophie das raue Gelände, jeder Schritt eine Abrechnung, jeder Atemzug eine stille Revolution. Die Berge sind Zeugen der Reise, die Skulptur dient als Wegweiser zu Sophies innerem Frieden. Fünf Tänzer*innen spiegeln die verborgenen Konflikte wider und geben Gestalt, was Worte nicht ausdrücken können; ihre Bewegung reflektiert die unausgesprochenen Spannungen im Inneren.

Mitten in der rohen Schönheit der Schweizer Alpen, von den sich verschiebenden Kontinentalplatten der Tectonic Arena Sardona bis zur begehbaren Skulptur OGNA, entfaltet IN VIADI eine poetische Erforschung von Authentizität.

A dance between crises, questions, and the search for direction. Our present time is marked by uncertainty. One crisis follows another. Images of war, exhaustion, and loss of control shape our everyday lives. How do we face this reality? What remains of safety when everything is thrown off balance – when even water, our most basic resource, becomes a crisis of its own in the face of climate change?

Two people meet in an abandoned, empty place – a drained swimming pool. 
No direction, no clear task. 
Are they stranded? Left behind? Or on the way to something new?

INTO THE BLUE tells a poetically dark journey through dance, visuals, and sound – exploring emotional states, collective fears, and the question: 
Is this the end – or a beginning?

Ein Tanz zwischen Krisen, Fragen und der Suche nach Orientierung. Unsere Gegenwart ist von Unsicherheit geprägt. Eine Krise folgt der nächsten. Bilder von Krieg, Erschöpfung und Kontrollverlust prägen unseren Alltag.
Wie stellen wir uns dieser Realität? Was bleibt von Sicherheit, wenn alles aus dem Gleichgewicht geraten ist – wenn selbst Wasser, unsere grundlegendste Ressource, angesichts des Klimawandels zur eigenen Krise wird?

Zwei Menschen treffen sich an einem verlassenen, leeren Ort – einem ausgetrockneten Schwimmbecken.
Keine Richtung, keine klare Aufgabe. Sind sie gestrandet? Zurückgelassen? Oder auf dem Weg zu etwas Neuem?

INTO THE BLUE erzählt eine poetisch-dunkle Reise durch Tanz, Bild und Klang – erforscht emotionale Zustände, kollektive Ängste und die Frage: Ist dies das Ende – oder ein Anfang?

The poem Naval Ode – “Ode Marítima” – by Fernando Pessoa captures the movement of separation between the dock and the ship, and thus the distance – between the inside and the outside, between myself and the other. The text is embodied by a mysterious and suspended dance, imbued with nostalgic desire, which swells like a sail.

Das Gedicht Naval Ode – „Ode Marítima“ von Fernando Pessoa fängt die Bewegung der Trennung zwischen Kai und Schiff ein und damit die Distanz – zwischen Innen und Außen, zwischen mir selbst und dem Anderen. Der Text wird durch einen geheimnisvollen, schwebenden Tanz verkörpert, durchdrungen von nostalgischem Verlangen, das wie ein Segel aufschwillt.

ENGLISH
A haunting dance film about climate grief and loss of snow.

AVALANCHE draws inspiration from a climate change scenario where the northern part of the world heats up and suffers a loss of below zero, snow-filled winters. The one-take film Avalanche traces emotional textures triggered by climate collapse, in a world where snow is history.

AVALANCHE places gaze specifically on how massive environmental loss and climate grief can impact human psyche and disturb the bodily experience of the world. At the heart of the film is the main characters’ crackling sanity and fragile, fumbling bodies. Snow is merely a mirage that, however, creates a real sense of both comfort and distress.

Context: The threat of snow-loss is already felt today as the snow line is receding increasingly higher up North. The loss of snowy winters would both signify the loss of winter landscapes, and be a major social and cultural shift causing the vanishing of snow-related traditions. Losing snow would be its own kind of end of the world.

AVALANCHE functions simultaneously as a warning about a possible devastating climate scenario while also offering an avenue for grieving the changes in our landscape that have already happened.

Ein eindringlicher Tanzfilm über Klimatrauer und den Verlust von Schnee.

AVALANCHE lässt sich von einem Klimawandelszenario inspirieren, in dem der nördliche Teil der Welt sich erwärmt und unter dem Verlust von frostigen, schneereichen Wintern leidet. Der One-Take-Film Avalanche zeichnet die emotionalen Texturen nach, die durch den Klimakollaps ausgelöst werden, in einer Welt, in der Schnee Geschichte ist.

AVALANCHE richtet den Blick speziell darauf, wie massive Umweltverluste und Klimatrauer die menschliche Psyche beeinflussen und das körperliche Erleben der Welt stören können. Im Zentrum des Films stehen die brüchige Vernunft und die fragilen, tastenden Körper der Hauptfigur. Schnee ist lediglich eine Fata Morgana, die jedoch ein reales Gefühl von sowohl Trost als auch Unbehagen erzeugt.

Kontext: Die Bedrohung durch den Schneeverlust ist bereits heute spürbar, da die Schneegrenze im Norden zunehmend höher rückt. Der Verlust schneereicher Winter würde sowohl das Verschwinden von Winterlandschaften bedeuten als auch einen bedeutenden sozialen und kulturellen Wandel auslösen, der schneeabhängige Traditionen verschwinden ließe. Der Verlust von Schnee wäre seine eigene Art von Weltuntergang.

AVALANCHE fungiert gleichzeitig als Warnung vor einem möglichen verheerenden Klimaszenario und bietet einen Raum, um die bereits eingetretenen Veränderungen unserer Landschaft zu betrauern.

ENGLISH
Using as base the 1894 filming of the Sioux American Indians dancing the ‘Ghost Dance’ the piece explores dance as protest, dance as a form of resistance against injustice and the imposition of foreign powers. Using hand drawn animation and archival footage of the Sioux together with footage from protest dances in other locations such as Gaza, South Africa, Peru, Jerusalem, Armenia among others.

Ausgehend von der Aufnahme von 1894, die die Sioux-Indianer beim „Ghost Dance“ zeigt, untersucht das Werk Tanz als Protest, als Form des Widerstands gegen Ungerechtigkeit und die Einwirkung fremder Mächte. Dabei werden handgezeichnete Animationen und Archivmaterial der Sioux mit Aufnahmen von Protesttänzen an anderen Orten kombiniert, etwa in Gaza, Südafrika, Peru, Jerusalem, Armenien.
